		<description><![CDATA[Great information: especially liked the blog on lavender as I am trying several varieties in my garden in Victoria.  I have lost a couple of them, but in general they are doing fine.  I prepared my clay soil with dug in coarse sand and organic matter for drainage, then put shells around them to add calcium and keep the soil sweet.  
I have also planted some in sandy soil in Parksville and they have done very well in the hot dry summers there, plus they are one of the few plants that the deer don&#039;t like.
